Crispy Chicken

Mom: Hey Justin, what do you love about your dad?

Justin: Dad is a good cook.

Mom: What do you like that he cooks?

J: Crispy Chicken with mashed potatoes.

M: Those come out of a bag from the freezer.

J: I know, but you gotta know when to flip them in the oven to get them just right. Dad does a pretty good job at that.

KENNY CHESNEY!!

Do you need Kleenex? Rob, Sarah and I went to the Kenny Chesney concert last night at the Van Andel Arena..

This "local" (lame) band opened up for him first. then came Leann Rimes. She was really good. It doesn't beat Sugarland from the last time we saw Kenny though.

Our seats were good. On the side of the stage right even with the front of the stage. I had such a good view. It was much better than the nosebleed section we had last time. By nosebleed I mean I could practically touch the roof of the arena.

Jennifer Nettles from Sugarland was there, came up on stage, sang "stay", that song they've been winning awards for, and a chimed in on a few others with Kenny. Sarah and I would like to start a rumor that the two of them are dating. Otherwise why should she just be in town to "visit" like Kenny says. Or just "drop by". You just don't "drop by" Grand Rapids. Although if Kenny

and I were on a first name basis I think I probably would have to just because I could. They were looking at each other with "bedroom eyes" like Sarah put it and we all know what that means. ...

It was a good show. The seats were packed. I would definately go back..

sulfa allergy

for a little bit of background - i found out after taking Septra this week that I am allergic to sulfa drugs... I have had this rash on my body but especially on the bottom of my feet.

Justin thinks this is hilarious.

tonight, as i was tucking him in bed, he says let me see your feet. (I went to the doctor today and was prescribed prednisone, also got another "benadryl" type med because the benadryl i was taking was not working) None the less I am feeling a little bit better. So I put my feet up to the bed and light so he can see them.

He looks and says you know what mom - the bottom of your feet look like an old person's arm. all wrinkly and pink and puffy.

I said thanks kiddo.

I love you anyways mom.

Unconditional love - there is nothing like it. I wonder what he'll think when my arms actually look like that?

Lori's house - 4.14.2008

Here we are at Lori's house after a debriefing from Bill about a few things...

We have no idea the fun we will have; the bonds we will build or the life changing
events ahead of us. All the appreciation for home - America..

Had I known then what I know now - heck yeah I still would have went..

To the Hogar

At the airport we met our driver, our guard and our luggage and loaded it all into this white van and the Fiat.. Somehow a superhero tune plays in my head when I think of the Fiat...
We drove through town, in the rain, and around to a few stores to pick up a few items along the way that we would need.. storage bins for the medicine, food, bibles and just about anything else that Lori thought we could stuff in the car... bananas, chickens, you name it we probably had it packed somewhere in that van with us. the funny thing is, just about every car that we passed had the same loaded down problem. it was not that uncommon to see 300 things packed into a 100 thing maximum car...
This is J sleeping in my arms. I had only met him for about 5 minutes when he fell asleep on me. Just a good little boy. I had forgotten what fun they are at this age. Makes me want another one - just kidding...

April 15, 2008

This was the view from the plane out my window as we flew over the caribbean sea. I loved how the clouds were reflected on the sea below... lovely.

This is the "international" airport at San Pedro Sula. Comparable to Muskegon only slightly larger... but not by much... my favorite was the $35 exit tax we had to pay to get out of the country on the way home... maybe the US should adopt this policy... it could bring in some quick cash...

In the van, after we finally loaded all our stuff and were waiting for the cash guy to come and exchange our money for limpiras... $1 US is equal to $19 limps...we cashed in big time.
This is Kris's first official bonding with the Fiat.. Little did we know that we would put that car through just about anything and it would keep on ticking.. Hey, that reminds me...I need to write a letter.
